Hey everyone! My name is Abbey Hilder, I am an 18-year-old climate activist from South Australia.

Abbey on a humanitarian mission in Cambodia, 2019

I first found out about Tuvalu in late 2019 from an online video. I fell in love with the country instantly. I admired the people and their willingness to open up and welcome anyone. From this video, I decided to conduct my own research on Tuvalu, and what I found was truly eye-opening. I discovered a country witnessing the forefront of climate change and its occupants at risk of climate displacement.

Fightfortuvalu is a vehicle for change. It is an active statement fighting back against climate change, whilst campaigning and educating people surrounding the drastic situation in Tuvalu.

Taking the pledge, which is located on our website signifies support for Tuvaluans and demands change to the current unfair legislation which fails to do anything regarding the current climate of Tuvalu and the impacts of climate change.

In my role as director of initiatives and campaigns, I aim to coordinate events that can inspire people to make an active change and get involved in FightForTuvalu. Bringing different communities together in the hopes of combating the issue of climate injustice.

Summary:

FightForTuvalu is an active statement to fight back against the ramifications of climate change whilst educating the common individual on Tuvalu's drastic situation and the un-legislated grey-area every nation faces. By taking the pledge, you join this grassroots movement and acknowledge the climate ramifications defining and dictating Tuvalu's future and further demand reformed legislation that recognises people displaced due to climate ramifications establishing a special refugee and asylum seeking status, in all, fighting for Tuvalu.
